After a tragic teenage driving accident in Wolcott, I spearheaded a drive to change the teenage driving laws in Connecticut. The Hartford Courant reported a few years later that numerous lives had been saved by this thoughtful legislation.
Working across the legislative aisle, I brought back over $5,000,000 in State grants to improve our community and lower our local taxes. These projects extended the waterline to the Clinton Hill area, improved Camp Sloper in Southington, and expanded Peterson Park. It is time that our tax dollar come back from Hartford again.
The best legislation occurs when you collaborate with both sides of the aisle whether requesting grant money for important projects in Wolcott and Southington or legislation that will affect everyone.
I proposed and was able to have enacted into law legislation that would allow seniors to live out their life at home rather that a long-term facility. The bill was titled “Money Follows the Person.” Seniors will always be a priority when I represent the 80th District.
Fighting For Veterans
As a founding member of the Wolcott VFW Auxiliary I firmly believe veterans who have protected us need to know that they are protected here in Connecticut. Well-crafted legislation is necessary to ensure that returning soldiers can afford both a home and health care.
Growing our Economy
A strong manufacturing environment will ensure good paying jobs in Connecticut. Working with our business community and schools I will promote a manufacturing jobs pipeline to ensure our workforce meets the needs of our businesses. In addition, I believe financial incentives are required to attract new business to our state and to ensure existing business can afford to stay in Connecticut and grow.
Together we will get through this pandemic. Please listen to the scientists and medical experts, wash your hands often, socially distance, and wear a mask.
Affordable healthcare is not something we should dream about, it is achievable and should be available for all citizens.
Working in a bi-partisan manner, we can reduce taxes and make Connecticut affordable.
